You are able to get rewards simply by interacting with the event and completing milestones on the progression bar above the Event Board. These rewards can help you progress in the Event itself and also in the game.

You can get even more rewards if you are one of the top five players in your leaderboard. Each of the top spots will receive an assortment of rewards and the higher the rank the more rewards you will get.
